William F. Naughton, 79, of Washington, passed away on July 29, 2025. Mr. Naughton, son of the late Manfred Naughton and Mary nee Nichols, was born on February 6, 1946, in Mexico, MO. He received his education from Warrenton High School. On June 6, 1970, he was united in marriage to Margaret Caldwell at Femme Osage Church. William served his country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
William had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, often spending his days hunting, fishing, or camping beneath the open sky. His hands were as skilled with leather work and candle making as they were with a fishing rod, and his creativity shone through in each piece he crafted. Music brought him great joy—whether playing for friends and family or simply listening, it was a constant companion. William’s adventurous spirit led him to travel far and wide, always eager to explore new places and create cherished memories along the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Naughton; siblings, Larry Naughton, Ann Arnold, Bobby Arnold, and mother and father-in-law, Ruth and Clarence Caldwell.
Among his survivors are his wife, Margaret Naughton of Washington; children, Sara Naughton of Hillsboro, James Naughton and wife Emily of Washington, and Crystal Tallent of Desoto, MO; siblings, Allen Naughton and wife Beverly of Alabama, Mary Cella of Union, and John Cella of Malvern, AL; grandchildren, Ashley Leon, Tyler Pope, Katrina Pope, Austin Harold, Carrissa Harold, Wyatt Harold, Madison Femmer, Aiden Femmer, Jake Femmer, Liam Naughton, Rhylee Naughton, Paytin Naughton, and Samuel Naughton; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Schrader, Rosalee Leon, Marcella Leon, and Ryker Harold; family friends, Lisa Schrader and Craig and Melissa Herald; loved ones and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to Suicide Prevention.
