William G. Crowley

William (Bill) G. Crowley, 85 , of Washington, passed away on September 14, 2021. Mr. Crowley, son of the late William A. Crowley and his wife May nee Snow, was born on June 4, 1936 in Graniteville, MO. 

Bill was proud to serve his country by enlisting in the US Navy after high school and later served in the Army National Guard. 

William received his Bachelors degree in Education from Harris Stowe in St. Louis and obtained his Masters degree of Arts and Science, from Webster University. On June 13, 1964, he was united in marriage to Barbara Moeller at the United Church of Christ in Webster Groves.

Bill and Barbara enjoyed traveling, especially in their RV to the western states. Bill enjoyed photography documenting their vacations. Bill had a deep enthusiasm for all outdoor activities, including boating, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening and canning. 

Bill had a love for black powder re-enactments and enjoyed creating and sewing his own leather and fur mountain man garments, and blacksmithing his own tools. Years after Barbara passed, Bill then concentrated on his music, playing the banjo, ukulele and concertina at area nursing homes and senior centers. He loved to write his own music and songs. 

Bill was very faithful and loved his church, St Peter’s United Church of Christ. 

Mr. Crowley was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Crowley and two brothers, Red and Henry Crowley.

Among his survivors are many friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 12:30-1:30 P.M. at St. Peter’s Church in Washington. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. at St. Peter’s Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. 

Memorial donations can be made to the St. Peter’s Church Cemetery.
