Wayne E. Gumpenberger, 75, of Washington, passed away on December 10, 2024. Wayne, son of the late Everett Gumpenberger and Rose Mary nee Finder, was born on January 18, 1949, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia Grade School. Wayne served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.
Wayne loved to go camping, bike riding, and cutting grass. He enjoyed sitting at the Washington riverfront and meeting new people. He was always there to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Lee Gumpenberger, and two brother-in-laws, John W. Elbert and Daniel L. Bailey.
Among his survivors are his son, Timothy Gumpenberger and wife Jill of Moselle; three siblings, Joyce Holmes and husband Robert of Washington, Karen Elbert of Washington, and Diane Bailey of Union; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, loved ones and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, with full military honors. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice.
