Wayne H. Fuhr, 83, of Washington, MO, passed away on February 7, 2026. Mr. Fuhr, son of the late Berthold Fuhr and Irene nee Thiemann, was born on July 30, 1942, in Augusta, MO. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1960. On June 25, 1966, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Waech at St Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
Mr. Fuhr's work career began after graduation at Durham Company in Washington, MO. He then served in the US Army between 1964 and 1966, including time spent in Vietnam. He then worked 7 years at Washington Electrical Products before working 22 years at Mercy Hospital Washington. He finished his career at Sporlan Valve, working for 13 years until his retirement in 2008.
He loved music and was an active member at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He sang in the church choir, and also served as an usher and as an elder for many years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, and attending music festivals and concerts. He was a sports nut, rooting on the Blues, Mizzou, and the Duke Blue Devils with Coach K. But most of all, he loved the Cardinals. Many weekends were spent grilling by the pool and listening to Jack Buck and Mike Shannon on the radio call. He also went to spring training on several occasions. His super power was sports trivia, and his uncanny knowledge and memory of sporting events was second to none.
Wayne enjoyed traveling, including a trip to Hawaii, cruises to the Western Caribbean, Alaska, and the Bahamas, and a 50th Anniversary trip to Disney World. He also enjoyed many trips to Branson and Lake of the Ozarks, spending quality time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Raymond Fuhr (Frances), and his wife Phyllis.
Among his survivors are his two children, Darryl Fuhr and wife Barbra (and stepdaughter Laura Hubenthal) of Union and Bryan Fuhr and wife Amie of St. Charles; sister-in-law, Marcia Waech of Anaheim, CA; granddaughter, Audrey Fuhr of St. Charles; nephew Robert Fuhr (Dena) of Augusta, MO; along with other relatives, and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Wayne Clements Scholarship Fund.
