Thomas L. Pfohl, 80, of Washington, passed away on January 29, 2023. Thomas, son of the late James Pfohl and Kathleen nee Livers, was born on February 27, 1942 in Louisville, Ky. He received his education from St. John Vianney High School. On January 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Deinice Molly at St. Paul Church in Fenton.
Tom was a loyal son who continued to take care of his family even after he began one of his own- making sure they had what they needed when his father passed at an early age. His faithful devotion to his wife, Deinice, whom he referred to as his ever lovin', was known to all and especially his children who would hear the story of their courtship many, many, times. Tom worked tirelessly over 35 years at the truck plant, getting up pre-dawn, to support his family. Yet, he always made time for family, friends and fun. Some of his favorite times were when he was coaching sports, camping, fishing, hunting, grilling, playing cards, dartball, bowling, and drinking a couple beers. His sense of humor was legendary. Tom had a deep faith and was an active member of his church. When he retired, he spent years donating his time keeping the grounds of St. John's church and school. He lived life large and the world is dimmer without his light shining in it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deinice Pfohl; two children, Jayme and Russell Pfohl and four siblings, Bruce, Donna, Mary, and Jimmy Pfohl.
Among his survivors are four children, Christina Basham of Washington, Regina Mulnix and husband Tim of Roanoke, TX, Lori Schaedler and husband Nicholas of Washington, and Jeanette Day and husband Hank of Washington; two brothers, Ken Pfohl and wife Sue of Milwaukee, WI and Percy Pfohl and wife Melva Jean of Pevely, MO; grandchildren, Mark, John, Taylor, Kelsey, Jordan, Molly, Hannah, and Madison; seven great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the St. John’s Gildehaus Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Ability- Developmental Services of Franklin County.
