Obituary

Shirley A. Ham, 87, of Washington, passed away on August 6, 2023. Shirley, daughter of the late Alvin Kappelmann and Genevieve nee Filla, was born on October 25, 1935, in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School. On June 13, 1990, she was united in marriage to Peter Ham.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting, sewing, fishing, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Peter Ham; daughter, Wendy Latham and two siblings, Betty Helsee , Don Kappelmann and great great granddaughter, Georgia Ann Buchanan.

Among her survivors are her children, Debbie Keith of Washington, Kevin Maune and wife Ginger of Union, David Maune of Union, and Gary Maune of Gray Summit; three step-children, Deborah Rowden and husband Boyd of St. Clair, Joan Graham and husband Jerry of Union, and James Ham of Villa Ridge; two brothers, Charlie Kappelmann and wife Betty of Sullivan and Tom Kappelmann and wife Gail of Willow Springs; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 9-10:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Grade School.
