Ruth Ann Thater

Ruth Ann Thater, 83 , of Washington, passed away on August 11, 2022. Mrs. Thater, daughter of the late Julius Kappelmann and Adolphine nee Lause, was born on July 1, 1939 in Washington. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School, graduating in 1957. On August 6, 1966, she was united in marriage to John Thater at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Ruth liked to knit, crochet, and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Thater; son, Loren Thater; three siblings, Victor Kappelmann, Alfred Kappelmann, and Rosemary Schaper; sister-in-law, Betty Kappelmann and brother-in-law, Lester Schaper.

Among her survivors are two children, Dan Thater of Union and Sandra Wagner and husband Timothy of Krakow; two grandchildren, Felicia Cope and Austin Wagner; great-granddaughter, Kylie Dunn; sister-in-law, Gloria Kappelmann, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Endowment Fund.
