Ronald Elbert Obituary

Ronald J. Elbert,89, of Dutzow, passed away on May 2, 2025. Mr. Elbert, son of the late Joseph Elbert and Eleanor nee Toben, was born on April 29, 1936, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School where he was class president.

Ron worked for Krakow Dairy, Toms Cab, Owner of Ronnie’s Drive In, Taylor Made Suits, Elbert Pontiac, Buick, GMC, and Ron Elbert Motor Company.

He was a member of the Washington Boat Club, SEA Scout Leader, Borgia’s Youth Council, Parish Council, Archdiocese Council of St. Louis, Washington Historical Preservation, Society of St. Joseph, and 60 year member of the St. Francis Borgia Choir.

Ron loved a good canoe and going fishing with his brother. He enjoyed having a carpenter tool in his hand with Juan by his side. His passion was restoring old buildings and having a cold gin and tonic on a hot day. He loved people of all walks of life. Ron was direct, loyal, and most of all his word was gold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eunice Elbert; life partner, Ann Buckman, and sister Betty Schonhoff and husband Jerome.

Among his survivors are his children, Brian Elbert, Christine Elbert, and Matthew Elbert and significant other, Kimberly Dewitt; brother, Harley Elbert and wife Marlene; grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; special friends, Juan Canede, Ed Mroz, and Patches; loved ones and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Washington Historical Preservation or Missouri Dept. of Conservation.
