Ronald J. Buhr, 87, of Villa Ridge, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children. Ron, son of the late August Buhr and Mildred nee Eichholz, was born on July 23, 1937, in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School and Northeast Missouri State University. On February 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to Barbara Cunio at the Immaculate Conception Church in Owensville.
Ron loved his family, was an avid baseball fan and loved spending time fishing on the Osage River. In his younger years he was a standout pitcher for the Washington Buds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Pete and Peggy Cunio, and brother-in-law, Leon Hellmann.
Among his survivors are his wife of 63 years, Barbara Helen Buhr; children, Steve Buhr and wife Elizabeth, Michelle Steimann and husband Joe, and Deanna Godat, his sister, Carol Parmentier and husband Clarence, grandchildren, Zack, Bailey, Allie, and Toby Godat, Henry and Nora Buhr, and Briana Steimann; great-grandchildren, Liam and Harry Godat; In-laws, Susan Hellmann and Doug Cunio and wife Kathy; loved ones and friends.
A private burial will be held at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery on Monday, April 28th. A memorial mass and Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude or American Heart Association.
