Rodney Bell Obituary

Rodney D. Bell, 89, of Washington, passed away on May 11, 2024. Mr. Bell, son of the late Orville Bell and Blanche nee Ray, was born on October 17, 1934 in Wilsonville, NE. He received his education from Eureka High School. On June 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Michel. Mr. Bell served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.

Rodney loved sports, coaching little league baseball and basketball at Our Lady of Lourdes. He was a member of the Washington Jaycees, past president of the Washington Little League, including receiving the "Man of Year" award in 1983, and board member of the Washington soccer Association. But most of all, he loved gardening and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne Bell and Wendell Bell and two sister-in-laws, Bernice Bell and Betty Helsee.

Among his survivors are his wife, Mary Lou Bell of Washington; children, Kimberly Caugh of Washington, Kyle Bell and wife Lisa of Washington, and Kristie Morton and husband John of Ashland, MA; two brothers, Gene Helsee of Washington and Virgil Frisbie and wife Jari of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Abigail Bell of Chicago, IL, and Alyson Bell of Chicago, IL; Logan Morton and wife Amanda of Malden, MA, Lexie Morton of St. Louis, sister-in-law Dolores Bell of Pacific, MO; loved ones and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a Mass beginning at 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
