Roberta E. L. Meyer, 94, of Washington, passed away on December 2, 2025. Mrs Meyer, daughter of the late Ludwig Hempelmann and Josephine nee Schnakenberg, was born on November 13, 1931, in Alma, MO. She received her education from Owensville High School. On January 7, 1956, she was united in marriage to Donald Meyer in Rosebud, MO.
Roberta was a cook at Washington High School for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Meyer; two children, David Meyer and Aggie Sanders; brother, Dr. L. Dean Hempelmann; grandson, Daniel Schmitt, and sons-in-law, Kevin Murdock, Mike McFerrin, and Ron Eggenberg.
Among her survivors are four children, Donna Mathis and husband Mark of Washington, Linda Kelley and husband Phil of Union, Laura Murdock of New Haven, and Alice Eggenberg of Union; brother, DeWayne Hempelmann and wife Peggy of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Robert Mathis and wife Barb, Eric Mathis and wife Lisa, Chris Kelley and wife Abbie, Philip Kelley and wife Katie, Nick Kelley and wife Jen, Trisha Whitaker and husband David, William McFerrin and wife Ashley, Adam McFerrin and wife Lindsey, Bill Sanders and wife Kate, Cody Sanders and wife Alex, Justin Schmitt and wife Melinda and William Lomax and wife Francesca; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Sanders; loved ones and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, following a short visitation from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. Interment will be in the St Peter’s U.C.C. Cemetery in Washington. Memorial donations can be made to the Concordia Seminary-Edmonton Alberta-Hempelmann Endowment or Immanuel Lutheran School.
