Robert Theissen Obituary

Robert K. Theissen, 86, of Washington, passed away on August 22, 2025. Mr. Theissen, son of the late George Theissen and Verona nee Gleason, was born on October 2, 1938, in Rhineland, MO. He received his education from the Hermann Public Schools. On August 8, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Branson at Assumption Catholic Church in New Haven. Bob served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy.

After his service, Bob was employed at the Chrysler plant in St. Louis, then built a long and respected career as a carpenter with McBride and Sons. He found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, traveling, gambling, hunting, following NASCAR, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all, his greatest happiness came from sharing life’s moments with his family, grandchildren, and his dear companion, Dolly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Jane Theissen; two siblings, Lloyd Theissen, Sandra Elkins, and brothers and sisters-in-law.

Among his survivors are four children, Robert “Bob” Theissen and wife Carla of Washington, Cindy Vanderbeck and husband Jay of St. Petersburg, FL, Patty Newbanks and husband Jeff of Flippin, AR, and Brian Theissen and wife Traci of Gasconade; three siblings, Donald Theissen and wife Wilma, Joe Theissen and wife JoAnn, and Joni Groteweil and husband Steve; grandchildren, Courtney Theissen and significant other Robert Rodgers, Brittani Caringer, Amanda Benz and husband Colby, Adam Newbanks and wife Shelby, and Josh Theissen; great-grandchildren, Koleman Baumbach, Leah and Evelyn Benz, Beckham and Brynna Newbanks, and Eleanor Theissen; significant other Dolly Konys; other relatives, and many friends.

Private family services will be held. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or CHD, Childrens Heart Defects.
