Robert E. Sontag Sr., 77, of Washington, passed away on January 15, 2024. Mr. Sontag, son of the late Robert F. Sontag and Garnet nee Leuthauser, was born on November 28, 1946 in St. Louis. He received his education from Lafayette High School and East Central College.
Robert loved classic cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed cooking, collecting coins, listening to music, but most of all, he loved his dogs and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Among his survivors are four children, Robert Sontag Jr. and wife Vicki of Washington, Tom Sontag and wife Rachel of Bethalto, IL, Aschleah Wildt and husband Mark of Wildwood, and Amber Wright and husband Joshua of Robertsville; sister, Shirley Wise and husband Andy of St. Louis County; grandchildren, Elizabeth Sontag, Hayden Sontag, Hannah Sontag, Alex Wildt, Kara Wildt, Audrey Wildt, Tyler Door, Zachary Door, and Sophia Door; nephew, Sam Wise; other relatives and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 12-2 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to the Leukemia Society.
