Robert D. Skinner Sr., 86 , of Granite City, IL, passed away on April 15, 2022. Robert, son of the late Alvert Skinner and Katie nee Rhinehart, was born on March 30, 1936 in Irving, IL. He received his education from Granity City High School in Illinois. On June 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Bernice Herschbach in Granite City at the Gospel Mission.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Philip “Randy” Skinner; two siblings, Bonnie Riggs and Claudius Wayne Skinner, and grandson, Matthew R. Marquart.

Among his survivors are his wife, Bernice Skinner of Washington; children, Robert D. Skinner Jr. and wife Beth of Myrtle Beach, SC, Patricia Mintert and husband Rick of Wood River, IL, and Peggy Marquart and husband Chris of Washington; grandchildren, Heather Sugg and husband Sean Flottmann, Kayla Mintert and fiance Lori Massander, Jon Mintert, Sara Ciaccio and husband Dom, Samuel Dunham and wife Addie Flyte, Benjamin Dunham and fiance Jessica Middleton, Christopher Marquart, and Jordan Marquart; great-grandchildren, Ava Flottmann and Jack and Luca Ciaccio; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimers Association.
