Richard Dale Thoms, 78, of Washington, peacefully passed away, Thursday, May 7, after a long hard battle with many health issues and intense chronic pain.
Richard had a zest for life. He loved his country, eagles, classic cars, flowers, and of course all of his family and friends. For the past several years Richard struggled with the fact that he was losing his quality of life and could no longer participate in any of the things he enjoyed in life.
Richard is survived by his wife of 40 years, Cindy, of Washington. Two sons, Brian (Kimberly) Thoms of Virginia and Jamie (Pam) of St. Louis. One grandson, Colin Thoms, of St. Louis. Three sisters, Judy Ficke, Darlene Ebker, and Nancy (Roy) Clark, all of Sullivan. One brother, Robbie Thoms, of Sullivan. Many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Wayne Thoms, one brother-in-law, James Ficke, Sr., and one nephew, Jason Clark.
To honor Richard’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. His family has peace knowing he is no longer suffering in pain.
Arrangements in care of Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
