Richard J. Skiljan, 79, of Labadie, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Mr. Skiljan, son of the late Rudolph Skiljan and Mattie nee Towell, was born on May 13, 1945, in St. Louis. He received his education from St. Mary’s High School in St. Louis. Richard was united in marriage to Ellen Parczynski. They enjoyed 57 years together.
Rich was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, as well as a veteran having spent 8 years in the Army Reserves.
Mr. Skiljan was and avid fisherman, active member of the American Legion, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be best remembered for his storytelling and his love of family. He will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Skiljan.
Among his survivors are his wife, Ellen Skiljan of Labadie; four children, R. James Skiljan and wife Dawn Marie of Labadie, Anne Edmonds and husband Steve of Maryland Heights, Joe Skiljan and wife Molly of Maryland Heights, and Margaret Wolff and husband Mike of Labadie; brothers, Bob Skiljan and wife Marlene of Savannah, GA, and Ronald Skiljan and wife Joyce of St. Louis; grandfather to Madison, Evelynn, Zachary, Haley, Saorise, Rudolph, Lucinda, Alexander, Andrew, Aaron, Aiden, and Johanna; loving uncle, great uncle, and friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the St. John’s Gildehaus Church. Interment, with full military honors will be held at the Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Mary’s High School.
