Richard R. Luechtefeld, 84, of Labadie, passed away on October 5, 2024. Mr. Luechtefeld, son of the late Theodore Luechtefeld and Agnes nee Hackmann, was born on February 27, 1940, in Macomb, MS. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On January 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Ruth Gildehaus at St. Francis Borgia Church. Richard served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.
Rich was employed as a mail carrier for 41 years. In his free time, you could find him at the bowling alley. Bowling was the love of his life. He also enjoyed going to the casino and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Norbert, Norman, Donald, and John Luechtefeld.
Among his survivors are his wife, Ruth Luechtefeld of Labadie; children, Donna Jackson and husband Daniel of Warrenton, Deborah Schaefferkoetter and husband Bob of Washington, Richard Luechtefeld and wife Dana of Huntsville, AL, and Diane Eggemeyer and significant other Steve Cox of St. Clair; siblings, Theodore “Ted” Luechtefeld Jr. and wife Dorothy “Dottie” of Owensville, Mary “Joyce” Stewart and husband Don of Gerald, and Delores “Janie” Glosemeyer and husband Maurice of Peers; grandchildren, Amanda Collins, Cody Schaefferkoetter, Nicholas Jackson, Kayla Alexander, Michael Eggemeyer, Adam Luechtefeld, and Grace Luechtefeld; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Monica, Claire, Abby, Ellie, Avery, Jace, and Hudson; loved ones and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10-11 a.m. at St. John’s Gildehaus Church, with a memorial mass beginning at 11 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. John’s Gildehaus Church, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
