Raymond A. Virgen Jr., 77, of Washington, passed away on February 16, 2021. He is dearly loved by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Ray, son of the late Raymond Virgen Sr. and his wife Evelyn NEE Herring, was born March 24, 1943 in South Gate, CA. On August 20, 1977, he was united in marriage to Charlene Marquart at St. Gertrude's Church. Ray served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.
He worked for McGraw Hill Book Co. for 25 years and later 20+ years at First Baptist Church . During both careers, he met many special people that turned into life-long friendships.
Ray was an avid hunter and crappie fisherman. He truly loved the outdoors. He spent countless hours in his boat at the lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Crow and her husband Bill, and brother, Dewitt Tidwell.
Among his survivors are his wife of 43 years, Charlene Virgen of Washington; three children, Sue Exler and husband Keith of St. Louis, Shelly Hahn of St. Louis, and Raymond A. Virgen III (Andy) Virgen and wife Stefanie of Krakow; sister, Sandy Burroughs and husband Wade of Kalispell, MT; eight grandchildren, Kami, Kyle, Kody, Julia, Ethan, Lexie, Tatum, and Delia; one great-grandchild, Jaxon; In-laws, Ruth Brinker and husband Gene of Washington, Ron Marquart and wife Jeanette of Marthasville, Debbie Marquart of Washington, and Kevin Marquart and wife Jan of Washington; special nieces and nephews, extended family Jody, Dan , Danny, Josh & Deven Paterson, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11 A.M. at St. Gertrude's Church. Interment with full military honors will be held at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Gertrude's School.
