Raymond Richardson Obituary

Raymond J. Richardson, 75 , of Washington, passed away on March 26, 2023. Raymond, son of the late Raymond Richardson and Millie nee Thompson, was born on March 20, 1948 in St. Louis, MO.  He received his education from St. Clair High School. Mr. Richardson served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. On March 11, 2012, he was united in marriage to Kathline LaPergola.

Ray loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gambling, and skinny dipping in his back yard pool. But most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially the ones at VFW 2661.

Mr. Richardson was a member of the VFW 2661, where he was a past commander and member of the funeral honors team. He was also a past exhaulted ruler at the ELKS 1559 and a member of the St Clair American Legion Post 347.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley Richardson; siblings, Elma Grotha, Gar Richardson, Mary Ellen Donaldson, Katy Adams and four brother-in-laws, Dennis May, Jack Adams, Charles Donaldson, and Bud Grotha.

Among his survivors are his wife, Kathline Richardson of Washington; two sons, Delmar “Chris” Richardson and wife Leesa of Washington and Randy Richardson of Washington; step-son, Michael Gooch and fiancé Jennifer of Moscow Mills, MO; siblings, Paul Richardson and wife Betty of Waterloo, IL, Patricia Mueller and husband John of Hannibal, MO, and Linda May of St. Clair; grandchildren, Christopher Richardson, Kayla Richardson, Sybil Grannemann, William Grannemann and wife Melanie; great-grandchild, Elzada Granneman; sister-in-law, Margaret Richardson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the VFW 2661 or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
