Raymond McMurray Obituary

Raymond McMurray, 83, of Washington, passed away on March 2, 2021. Mr. McMurray, son of the late Carl McMurray and his wife Mary NEE Swain was born November 19, 1937 in Brooks, Iowa. He received his high school education while serving in the Air Force. Raymond proudly served his country as an airman E-3 in the United States Air Force. Raymond graduated from Machinist school after leaving the service and was employed as a machinist with Colgate Palmolive for 30+ years. On January 13, 1964 he was united in marriage to Helen Crisp in Miami, Oklahoma.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents: sisters, Dorris Moore, Lotto Phillips, and Ilene Nelson; brothers,  Max McMurray, Jess McMurray, Bob McMurray, Clifford McMurray, and George McMurray; in-laws, Dixie Austin and Bob Crisp.

Among his survivors are his wife Helen McMurray of Washington; two children, Susan McMurray of Kansas City, Kansas and Missy Lochirco and husband John of Washington, MO; Grandchildren: John Stevenson and Lauren and Emily Lochirco: Great Grandchildren: Makayla, Paul, Isabella, Mary, Abigail, and Leland; other relatives and friends.

 

A visitation will be held on Friday March 5, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Nieburg -Vitt Miller Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 6:00 P.M. Full Military Honors will be held at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be at Brooks Cemetery in Corning, IA on Saturday March 6, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.

 

Memorial Donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Athletic Association.
