Patrick Stanley Obituary

Patrick Walter Stanley was born on February 11, 1964 to Roy Stanley Sr. and Marjorie G. Stanley (nee Buril) in Washington, MO. He transitioned peacefully on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Grandview Nursing Home in Washington, MO.

Patrick was the youngest of 14 children born to Roy and Marjorie. Reserved and quiet, he often followed behind his older brother Chris. They were inseparable; always looking out for each other, and their bond remained strong throughout adulthood. Even at a young age, he was an avid reader and always had a book with him. His love for reading continued, and it was not abnormal for him to be reading several large books at a time. He enjoyed playing darts and was on several dart leagues in Washington throughout the years. He also enjoyed playing the drums, listening to music, and watching movies. He was a gentle giant with a large appetite, who could out-eat nearly anyone. His friends describe him as having a big heart and being the person who would always have their back, no matter what. He loved his family, especially, his mother. His face would light up anytime he spoke of her. He kept her photo near him always, even during his last days, and named his only daughter after her. Patrick will be sorely missed by his family and all those who knew and loved him, just the same.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marjorie, and two sisters, Patricia E. Stanley and Ida M. Harvey.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Ian P. Stanley, Trey A. Stanley, and Marjorie G. Stanley; his siblings: Gerri Greene, Roy Stanley Jr. (“Buck”), Paulette A. Stanley, James R. Stanley, Robert E. Stanley, Jacqueline M. Stanley, George M. Stanley, Larry G. Stanley, William H. Stanley (“Butch”), Pamela J. Stanley, and Christopher J. Stanley; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with interment in the Washington City Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of choice.
