Patricia Parsons Obituary

Patricia A. Parsons,94, of St. Louis, passed away on June 29, 2026. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 23, 1932, and grew up in San Diego, CA.

Pat graduated from the Washington University School of Dental Medicine in 1957 and received a master’s degree in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Michigan, followed be a fellowship in 1960. She then returned to St. Louis and joined the Dental School faculty and spent her entire career in academics, rising up to Professor and Chairmen of Pediatric Dentistry.

Before retiring, Pat was very active in serving on various committees throughout her tenure at the Dental School. She was a long-time member of various dental organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and served as Washington University’s representative to the American Association of Dental Schools. Pat was also a member of Omnicron Kappa Upsilon(OKU), the Dental Honor Society.

Pat maintained a part time private dental practice in St. Louis County for 35 years, until she retired in 1995. Dr. Parson’s devotion to her profession exemplified the role of what a teacher should be. She was instrumental in inspiring many dental students to pursue careers in dentistry for children, as well as advocating better dental treatment for children.

Pat and her lifelong friend and business partner, Helen Sherlock, were breeders of many champion dogs. They bred and showed Pembroke Welsh Corgis and German Shepherds. Pat’s dog, American Canadian champion, Horoko Caralon Dickens Romx, was the top producing Pembroke Welsh Corgi Sire in the history of the breed. He sired 97 champions. Helen also helped Dr. Chuck Kruger develop a supplement for dogs and she helped the Monks of New Skete with their German Shepherd breeding program.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 2-4:30 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home in Washington, MO.

In her memory, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
