Norma Veltre Obituary

Norma Veltre,92, of Union, formerly of Washington, passed away on April 4, 2025. Mrs. Veltre, daughter of the late Andrew Hurst and Flora nee Gruber, was born on July 9, 1932, in Swiss, MO. She received her education from a one room schoolhouse near Drake, MO and later earned her GED from the American School.

Norma was a talented seamstress who made all sorts of clothes for her family, even sewing dress shirts with monogrammed pockets for her late husband, Anthony. She worked as a waitress at Tri-County Truck Stop Restaurant for 20 years, after which she frequented the Washington Senior Center and the YMCA. She loved to walk for exercise and made many lifelong friends while keeping fit. Most of all she was devoted to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She attended St. Louis Family Church until she moved to Union, where she attended Grace Family Church and, most recently joined Union Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald Mueller; second husband, Anthony Veltre; three brothers, two sisters, and daughter Toni Backs and husband Jerry.

Among her survivors are four children, Brenda Kay Mueller of Wichita, KS, Michael Gene Mueller (Giselle) of Ponchatoula, LA, Cassandra Medlin-Clark of O'Fallon, MO and Bradley Scott Veltre of Washington; eleven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and wonderful family members too numerous to count.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 4-7 p.m., with a service beginning at 6 p.m., at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made to a church or charity of choice.
