Norma Brinker Obituary

Norma J. Brinker (nee Parker), of Washington, passed away on December 3, 2019 , surrounded by her family at Mercy Hospital in Washington. She was born on June 1, 1940, in St. Louis to the late Glen and Florence (nee Parkin) Parker and was united in marriage to the late Lawrence “Larry” Brinker at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church on April 25, 1959.  Norma enjoyed helping to provide for the family and had many different careers over her lifetime, starting with the Deb Shoe Factory. She was particularly proud of being one of the first female traveling sales representative for Hazel and later a sales territory manager for Magnet, Inc., and her service to the community through her jobs with the City of Washington and Washington Volunteer Fire Department.  She also served as a long-time board member for the Washington Library and enjoyed the friendships and company of her Card Club.

 

A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 10 am at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Church cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 10, from 4 until 7 pm at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Washington Public Library.

 

Norma is survived by four sons, David Brinker of Jakarta, Indonesia, Mike Brinker of Washington, Tim Brinker and wife Betsy of Washington, and Dirck Brinker and wife Christy of Union; two siblings, Donald Parker and wife Virginia of Eminence, Missouri and Wilma Kuenzel of Hot Springs, Arkansas; ten grandchildren, Megan, Alyssa, Kelsey, Zackary, Ryan, Holly, Beau, Scarlett, Dalton, and Alaina; sister-in-law, Colleen Ryker of Washington; other relatives and many friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry Brinker; two brothers, Lloyd and Ivan Parker; and three brothers-in-law, Morris “Hitch” Ryker, Paul Kuenzel, and Gene Snodgrass.
