Milton M. Hurt,99, of Villa Ridge, passed away on May 11, 2025. Milton, son of the late Virgil Hurt and Marie nee Kandlbinder, was born on July 11, 1925, in St. Clair. He received his education from Washington High School. On August 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Virginia Fennessey at the Labadie Methodist Church. Mr. Hurt served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy and was a proud member of the American Legion Post in Labadie where he served as Chaplain for many years.
Milton found great joy in playing golf, often challenging himself on the greens and forming lasting friendships along the way. His passion for travel led him to explore far-flung destinations, immersing himself in the beauty and culture of different places. At home, he cherished the simple pleasure of reading the daily newspaper, keeping himself informed and engaged with the world around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Virginia Hurt; sister, Helen Eckelkamp and husband Woody; sister-in-law, Margaret Thornhill and husband John and brother-in-law, John Fennessey.
Among his survivors are his children, Carl D. Hurt and wife Marnette of Pacific, Christine Hogan of Washington, and Glenn Hurt of Villa Ridge; six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 9-11 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be held at the Bethel Cemetery in Labadie. Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children-St. Louis or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
