Melvin Jones Obituary

Melvin “Ken” Jones, 78, of New Haven, passed away on October 18, 2025. Ken, son of the late Melvin V. Jones and Valetta nee Monney, was born on June 20, 1947, in St. Louis. He received his education from Owensville High School and Linn Technical College. On June 15, 1999, he was united in marriage to Doris Maune in Hawaii. Ken served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.

Ken enjoyed golf, traveling, and spending time with his family. In his earlier years, he was also fond of fishing and hunting, which brought him much joy and relaxation.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Among his survivors are his wife Doris (Obermark) Jones of New Haven; sister, Rosalie Jones of Stony Hill; adopted sister, Marvelene Kusewitt of Stony Hill; two step-children, Julie Shelton and husband Rick of Wentzville and Bryan Obermark of Washington; two step-grandchildren, Ty and Riley Shelton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy Wagner and husband Al of Sun Lakes, AZ, Lou Ellis and husband Ivan of Jackson, MO, and Connie Mihalevich and husband Rick of Jefferson City, MO; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 9-10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s U.C.C. in Washington, with a memorial service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment, with full military honors will be held at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Peter’s U.C.C. or Mercy Health Foundation-In care of ICU, Washington.
