Mary D. Scott, 81 , of Washington, passed away on June 15, 2023 in Washington. Mrs. Scott, daughter of the late James C. Skouby and Velva nee Mashburn, was born on February 19, 1942 in New Haven. On February 7, 1959, she was united in marriage to James Scott at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
She was a well-known seamstress for many years in Washington. An avid gardener, she loved all of nature and enjoyed feeding the birds. Mary also loved baking and was famous for her iced sugar cookies which she made in special shapes for her grandchildren. She cherished her family -- especially her grandchildren. If anyone in the family had a question, we called Mom, and she always had a good answer. She gave heartfelt hugs which will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Scott; seven brothers and three sisters.
Among her survivors are four daughters, Teri Enke and husband Rick of Jefferson City, Sheri Telarico and husband Angelo of Washington, Julie Overschmidt and husband Ted of Washington, and Jamie Warnhoff and husband Kale of St. Louis; sister, Betty Shaver of Carthage, MO; grandchildren, Chris Enke, Jason Enke (Kara), Nicholas Telarico and fiance Alyssa, Hannah Telarico, Stevie Overschmidt, and Gavin Warnhoff; one great-grandchild, Axell Enke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vester Scott, Jerene Sitter, Terry Scott and wife Diane, Judy Glover, and Kevin Scott and wife Dorothy; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 9-10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, with a Mass beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Pregnancy Assistance Center or Loving Hearts Outreach.
