Mary Ritson Obituary

Mary A. Ritson, 81, of Washington, passed away on October 21, 2024. Mrs. Ritson, daughter of the late Robert Turlin, Cecelia nee Neier, and stepfather, Armin “Dick” Piek, was born on September 10, 1943, in Cape Girardeau. She received her education from Cape Notre Dame High School, graduating in 1961. On April 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to John Ritson Sr. at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in East St. Louis, IL.

Mary was employed at Walmart in Washington for the last 34 years. When she was not working, she loved going to resale shops, being outdoors, and spending time with her beloved pet cat, Walter. Mary loved going on vacations with her son and daughter and traveling to San Diego as much as possible to visit her daughter and family. She was a helpful neighbor and friend. Her kind heart will be greatly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Ritson Sr; stepfather, Armin “Dick” Piek and two siblings, Bob Turlin and Grace Shae.

Among her survivors are two children, John Ritson Jr. of Washington and Kathleen Breede and husband Adam of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Andrea Sisk and husband Josh, Taylor Ritson, Paige Ritson, Samantha Breede, and McKenzie Breede; great-granddaughter, Alexis Breitenbach; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Ritson; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 1-4 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or charity of choice.
