Mary Kimminau Obituary

Mary Lee Kimminau, 93, of Washington, passed away on April 18, 2023. Mrs. Kimminau, daughter of the late Bernard Brinkmann and Madeline nee Kopp, was born on October 18, 1929 in Labadie. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On November 24, 1949, she was united in marriage to Herbert Kimminau at St. Francis Borgia Church.

For almost 72 years, she and her husband, Herb, were an inseparable couple who were devoted to one another and to the Catholic faith.

Mary Lee was most passionate about her family and the many friends she made in her long lifetime. She especially looked forward to having her children and grandchildren together for special occasions. One of her favorite hobbies was card playing with anyone who dared to take the challenge. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, and was in regular attendance at Borgia basketball games spanning three generations.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert Kimminau; three siblings, Jerry Brinkmann, Eunice Siedhoff, Bernadine Garbs, and one great-grandchild, Quinn Kimminau.

Among her survivors are six children, David Kimminau and wife Lavon of Lee’s Summit, Tom Kimminau and wife Lori of Washington, Ken Kimminau and wife Kim of Washington, Bill Kimminau and wife Pam of Washington, Jim Kimminau and wife Lisa of Washington, and Mary Jo Welman and husband Scott of Lee’s Summit; brother, Floyd Brinkmann and wife LeaMae of Washington; In-laws, Darlene Brinkmann, Father Irenaeus Kimminau, Stephanie Straatmann,  Agnes Piontek, and Patricia Kimminau; seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. Interment will be at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Church or Masses. Memorial visitation and luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, following the mass at St. Francis Borgia Church.
