Marilyn A. Bleckman , 80 , of Washington, passed away on March 31, 2021. Mrs. Bleckman, daughter of the late Julius Elbert and his wife Emma NEE Kamler, was born April 23, 1940 in Washington. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On October 17, 1959, she was united in marriage to Maurice Bleckman at the St. Gertrude's Church in Krakow.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, quilting, reading, shopping, learned to love fishing, and was a wonderful cook. Her family will miss the meals and treats that always tasted best at Grandma's house. She loved visiting Colorado and Minnesota. Her favorite time of year was Christmas when everyone came home to be together. She was once a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes and St. John's Gildehaus and later in life enjoyed volunteering at the hospital.
Marilyn was a member of the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and the Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Jerome Elbert, Dorothy "Tudy" Meyer, and Judy Klenke.
Among her survivors are her husband, Maurice Bleckman of Washington; five children, Nancy Fischer and husband Al of Washington, Joseph Bleckman and wife Sheila of Washington, Danny Bleckman of St. Peter's, Lynn Michels and husband Pete of Longmont, CO, and Elizabeth Kraichely and husband Rob of Rochester, MN; sister, Laverne Beste of Washington; grandchildren, Adam Fischer and wife Julie, A.J. Fischer and wife Megan, Anna Michel and husband Kyle, Andrew Fischer and wife Katie, Nathan Brinker and wife Sarah, Brandon Brinker, Alicia Ferkel and husband Bobby, Jack Michels, Sam Michels, Ellie Kraichely, Clara Kraichely, and Violet Kraichely; six great-grandchildren; In-laws, Betty Buersmeyer, Alice Elbert, and Richard Meyer; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4-8 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 10 A.M. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes School or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
