Margie E. Monzyk, 80, of Washington, passed away on August 8, 2023. Mrs. Monzyk, daughter of the late Bernard Spaunhorst and Mary nee Hoelscher, was born on June 6, 1943, in Krakow. She received her education from St. Gertrude’s Grade School. On August 28,1965, she was united in marriage to Ronald Monzyk.
Margie liked to have fun! She enjoyed bowling for most of her life and even won trophies in her younger years! She loved line dancing, shopping for those bargains (she could stretch that dollar like no one else), playing with her grandkids, then later going to all their sports games. She enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers. She had a strong Catholic faith and served the community in many ways. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, volunteered at the hospital service desk and was a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Lourdes. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her husband, kids & grandkids and reminiscing with her brother, Bernie & her sister, Rosemary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mary Spaunhorst.
Among her survivors are her husband, Ronald Monzyk of Washington; children, Cyndy Bauer and husband Larry of Warrenton, Aili Amen and husband Mike of Wentzville, Jason Monzyk and wife Erin of Marthasville, and Doug Monzyk of Union; siblings, Rosemary Rice of Colorado Springs, CO and Bernie Spaunhorst and wife Kathy of Lake St. Louis; five grandchildren, Andrew Riebow, Justin Riebow, Logan Monzyk, Lacy Monzyk, and Kristen Jarvis and husband Joe; In-laws, Paul Monzyk and wife Rose of Washington; other relatives, and many friends.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. A luncheon will be held in the Parish Hall after the service. Memorial donations can be made to Unbound at www.unbound.org
