Marceline E. Schmitt

Marceline E. “Tudy” Schmitt, 93, of Washington, passed away on January 27, 2024. Mrs. Schmitt, daughter of the late John M. Uhrmann and Margaret nee Crismon, was born on September 8, 1930, in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School. On April 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth F. Schmitt.

Tudy adored her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved cooking, and enjoyed the beauty of flowers and the outdoors. She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Parish.

Mrs. Schmitt was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth F. Schmitt; two brothers, John Uhrmann and Richard Uhrmann and two sister-in-laws, Gloria Uhrmann and Janet Uhrmann.

Among her survivors are two children, Steve Schmitt and wife Melanie of Laramie, WY and Anne Cochran and husband John of St. Louis: grandchildren, Emily Schmitt and husband Kevin Shimkus of Laramie, WY, Taylor Reda and husband Nick of St. Louis, and Alec Cochran and wife Dani of St. Louis; two great-grandchildren, Luke Shimkus and Dominic Reda; loved ones and many friends.

A memorial mass will be held on March 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St. Francis Borgia Grade School Tuition Assistance Fund.
