Lyle L. Howell, 85 , of Washington passed away on November 25, 2021. Mr. Howell, son of the late Artie Howell and Myrtle Howell nee Lyles, was born on January 12, 1936 in Piasa, IL. He received his education from Granite City High School where he was a championship wrestler. Lyle served his country honorably as a member of the United States Navy. On October 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Bernadine Loyet at the Holy Family Church in Granite City, IL.
Lyle’s priorities were God, sobriety, family and country. He was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Washington, MO. He provided for his family as a welder/chem tester for Union Electric/Ameren. Among other things he was a bowler, shortstop, friend of Bill W, hunter, runner, snow skier, scuba diver, choir member, motorcycle enthusiast, and world traveler…a lover of life.
Mr. Howell was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Geneva Zumwalt, C. William Howell, and Daryl Ray Howell.
Among his survivors are his wife, Bernadine Howell of Washington; children, Laura Mouhalis and husband Jeffrey of Delray Beach, FL, Thomas Howell and wife Leslie of Atlanta, GA, Don “Mickey” Howell and wife Kelly of Villa Ridge, and Dan Howell and wife Denise of Eolia, MO; siblings, Jerry Howell and wife Linda and Conley Howell and wife Sandy; grandchildren, Paul Mouhalis, Evan Mouhalis, Ryan Mouhalis, Rose Howell, Nathan Howell, Ian Howell, Zac Howell, Anthony Howell, James Howell, Kraig Howell, Devon Howell, Briley Howell; step-grandchildren, Abigail Schuette, Marisa Ebenstein, and Thomas Ebenstein; great-grandchildren, Kathryn Mouhalis, Victoria Mouhalis, Juliet Mouhalis, Isabel Mouhalis, Jackson Howell, and Julien Howell; In-laws, Cecelia Siebert and Dee Loyet; other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 12-1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, with the Memorial Mass being held at 2 p.m. at the church. Memorial donations can be made to St Francis Borgia Church, School or Choir at 115 Cedar St, Washington, MO 63090
