Obituary

Lucille A. Homeyer, 100 , of Washington, passed away on June 28, 2023. Mrs. Homeyer, daughter of the late Herbert Barrett and Sylvia nee Ziegenmeyer was born on March 11, 1923 in Washington. She received her education from Washington High School. On February 11, 1945 she was united in marriage to August Homeyer Jr. at the Presbyterian Church of Washington.

Mrs. Homeyer worked for many years at Sears in Washington. She enjoyed quilting and loved volunteering her time at the Washington Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, August Homeyer Jr.; son, John Homeyer; three brothers, Lester Barrett, Ralph Barrett, Louis Barrett, grandson, Nathan Homeyer, and son-in-law, Don Neuner.

Among her survivors are her children, Barbara Kassebaum and husband Marvin of New Haven, Thomas Homeyer and wife Geralyn of Union, Marjorie Donner and husband Gene of Bourbon, Herbert Homeyer and wife Elise of Washington, William Homeyer and wife Elaine of Villa Ridge, Dale Homeyer and wife Kathy of Washington, David Homeyer and wife Sarah of Washington, Carolyn Kluesner and husband Herb of Washington, and Julie Solomon and husband John of Philadelphia, PA; daughter-in-law, Nanette Homeyer of Florida; twenty two grandchildren, thirty one great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Helen Desmond; brother-in-laws, Jim Neier and Claude Brown; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10-12 p.m. at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Washington, with the funeral service beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will be at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ cemetery in Washington. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Peter’s U.C.C. Food Pantry or the Washington Historical Society.
