Lisa M. Buhr, 56, of Washington, passed away on December 23, 2023. Mrs. Buhr, daughter of the late Hubert Kleekamp and Laurice nee Lanwermeyer, was born on June 23, 1967, in Washington. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School, Washington High School, and East Central College. On May 6, 1989, she was united in marriage to Duane Buhr in Washington.
Lisa and Duane were high school sweethearts. Together they formed a wonderful life in Washington and raised four beautiful children together. Their children meant the world to her. Lisa enjoyed supporting her children through their many activities and sports, including dance, cheer, baseball, and soccer. She was an avid supporter of St. Francis Borgia sports. She also enjoyed watching and supporting the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs. She spent her free time reading and walking outdoors with friends. Over the years she cherished the memories she made at Mark Twain Lake with her family. She loved attending the Washington Town & Country Fair with her family and friends. Lisa prided herself in having only missed going to the fair one year, the year she was in the hospital delivering her first child. Lisa was a devoted and faithful Catholic. She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Borgia Parish. It was important to Lisa that her children were raised in the Catholic Church and had the same opportunities for Catholic education as she did. Ultimately, Lisa's main passion was to be a wife and mother. Her selfless nature was one of her greatest qualities. She always put her family first and loved the time she got to spend with her children. It was recently announced that she and Duane are expecting their first grandchild. She was welcoming the role of becoming a grandmother.
Through her high school and college years, Lisa was employed by Schnucks, formally Kroger and National. She made many friends with coworkers and customers while working there. Her employment there always held a special place in her heart. Lisa then went on to spend many years working at Advanced Sight Center, formally Tri County Eye Center. Wanting to dedicate more time to her family, Lisa sought employment with Washington Engineering and Architecture. She was most recently employed by Melton Machine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Jeffrey Kleekamp and Diane Koirtyohann, mother-in-law, Glenda Buhr, and great-nephew, Caleb Reidhead.
Among her survivors are her husband, Duane Buhr of Washington; children, Elizabeth Thode and husband Alex of Kansas City, MO, Emily Buhr of Kansas City, MO, Jacob Buhr of Washington, and Lexi Buhr of Washington; siblings, Dale Kleekamp and wife JoAnn of St. Peters, MO, JoAnn Kleekamp of Washington, Dennis Kleekamp and wife Angie of Hermann, Donna Wessel and husband Mike of Dutzow, and Tim Kleekamp and wife Sheila of Washington; father-in-law, Tom Buhr of Washington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Buhr and wife Carolyn of Gerald, Randy Buhr and fiance Cheryl Westhoff of Washington, Darrell Buhr of Washington, and Kenneth Koirtyohann of Washington; other relatives and many friends.
