Linda Erfurdt Obituary

Linda A. Erfurdt, 77, of Washington, passed away on May 13, 2024. Mrs. Erfurdt, daughter of the late Albert Gist and Edith nee Willson, was born on September 12, 1946, in Washington. She received her education from Jefferson City High School. On January 14, 1967, she was united in marriage to John Erfurdt Jr. in Washington.

Linda worked for Walmart as a demo coordinator, personnel manager, cash office and stocker.  She worked at several stores in the system: Washington, Sullivan and Eureka. She enjoyed hand crafts like crocheting and sewing, and making clothes for her children when they were young. 

In October 1968 she joined the Washington chapter Order of the Eastern Star and remained a member until her passing (50+years).  In 2007 she joined Daughters of the Nile and served as Queen in 2012. She also belonged to International Order of the Oddfellows (Pacific Lodge #86) which she joined as soon as possible for women to belong. She was the first woman to join the Pacific Lodge. She served as a leader in all of these organizations in some cases more than once: Worthy Matron, Noble Grand and Queen. She enjoyed her work in these organizations, especially the Shriners Hospital for children.  She also supported her children during their school activities, wrestling, school plays, etc. She supported her husband John during his activities and was always there when someone needed her. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harlan and Gary Gist.

Among her survivors are her husband, John Erfurdt Jr. of Washington; three children, John Erfurdt III and wife Rachael of Villa Ridge, James Erfurdt and wife Dee Dee of Olive Branch, MS, and Margaret Henning and husband Mark of Washington; three grandchildren, Kaine Erfurdt, Donovan Erfurdt, and Gus Erfurdt; loved ones and friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 1-4 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 4 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
