Lester Wilhelm Friedrich Borgman, 98, of Villa Ridge, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Washington surrounded by his family. Lester was born in Marthasville on December 17, 1921, to the late Hubert and Hilda (nee Bierbaum) and was baptized on February 5, 1922, at Femme Osage United Church of Christ. Lester proudly served as a sergeant in the US Army in the Pacific and European theaters of World War II. After safely returning home, he married the love of his life, the late Vera Schnaath, on September 23, 1950, at Ebenezer Evangelical Church in Augusta. For thirty-seven years, he enjoyed a career in research for Ralston Purina working close to his home and family at the research farm in Gray Summit.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 13, 2020, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Washington. Interment will follow at the Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm on Wednesday, February 12, at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Memorial donations are appreciated to St. Peter’s United Church of Christ Cemetery.
He is survived by two children, Dennis Borgman and wife Debi of Villa Ridge and Elaine Shelton and husband Mark of Florissant, Missouri; one sister, Marilyn Springmeyer of Newport News, Virginia; two grandchildren, Greg and Lauren Shelton of Florissant; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
