Laverne M. Beste ,93, of Washington, passed away on January 28, 2023. Mrs. Beste, daughter of the late Julius Elbert and Emma nee Kamler, was born on July 4, 1929, in Washington. She received her education from St. Gertrude School. On June 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Adolph Beste at St. Gertrude’s Church.
Laverne was one of those individuals who never met a stranger. Perhaps it was her smile or the twinkle in her eyes that always drew people in and allowed her to leave a lasting impression. She will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adolph Beste; siblings, Jerome “Bud” Elbert, Dorothy “Tudy” Meyer, Marilyn Bleckman, and Judy Klenke; In-laws, Bernard Beste, Al Beste, Rudy Beste, Harry Beste, Joseph Beste, James Beste, Robert Beste, Thomas Beste, Dolores Frankenberg, and Irene Lause.
Among her survivors are her daughter, Sandy Lucy and husband Gary of Washington; brother-in-law, Richard Meyer of Washington; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 3-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, St. Francis Borgia Church, or Meals on Wheels-Mercy Hospital.
