Larry J. Tobben, 73 , of Washington, passed away on October 29, 2021. Mr. Tobben, son of the late James Tobben and his wife Dorothy nee Peters, was born on October 14, 1948 in Washington. He received his education from Washington High School and received a Masters Degree from Truman St. University.
Larry taught Art for many years at Washington Elementary School before retiring. He also owned and operated Urban Accents in Washington. He was an avid reader, loved volunteering at various organizations, and enjoyed traveling to many different countries.
Mr. Tobben was a member of the Elks Lodge in Washington, Knights of Columbus, WINGS, YOTS, and the Washington Historical Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Tobben.
Among his survivors are four siblings, Ron Tobben and wife Doris of Washington, Sharon Moses of Washington, Alan Tobben and wife Helen “Cooky” of Washington, and Joyce Mutert and husband Dennis of Washington; nieces and nephews, Stacy Feldt and husband Kirk, Trisha Ley and husband Darren, Jill Pinter and husband Nathan, Michelle Hammer and husband William “BJ”, Kym Blankenship and husband Tyler, and Scott Tobben; great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 from 4-7 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. The memorial mass will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 10 A.M. at St. Gertrude’s Church. Memorial donations can be made to the WINGS Foundation or St. Gertrude’s School.
