Kenneth Schmitt Obituary

Kenneth F. Schmitt, 93 , of Washington, passed away on January 4, 2022. Mr. Schmitt, son of the late Emil Schmitt and Anna nee Marquart, was born on June 8, 1928 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia Grade School. On April 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Marceline Uhrmann at the St. Francis Borgia Church. Ken served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army from December 2, 1950 – December 1, 1952.

Ken was a local business owner. In his free time he loved to play golf and enjoyed outdoor activities. He was a member of the St. Francis Borgia Church and the Washington Volunteer Fire Company.

Mr. Schmitt was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Victor Schmitt, Richard Schmitt, Mildred Schmitt, Irene Bierman, and Alice Elbert.

Among his survivors are his wife, Tudy Schmitt of Washington; two children, Steven Schmitt and wife Melanie of Laramie, Wyoming and Anne Cochran and husband John of St. Louis; brother, Virgil Schmitt of Washington; grandchildren, Emily Schmitt Shimkus and husband Kevin, Taylor Reda and husband Nick, and Alec Cochran and wife Dani; great-grandson, Luke Shimkus; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 9-9:45 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a Memorial Mass beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Church. Memorial donations can be given to the St. Francis Borgia Regional High School.
