Keith Ballmann Obituary

Keith C. Ballmann, 64, of Union, passed away on November 17, 2023. Keith, son of the late Charles Ballmann and Darlene nee Hoelscher, was born on March 4, 1959 in Washington. He was a 1977 graduate from Washington High School. On May 5, 1984, he was united in marriage to Brenda Frankenberg at St. Francis Borgia Church. Together, they made their home in the Krakow area where they were members of St. Gertrude Church. They were blessed with 2 children.

Keith loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them fishing every chance he got. One of his favorite spots to go fishing and boating was Mark Twain Lake. Camping and vacationing with family and friends were also some of his favorite pastimes. Additionally, Keith was an avid follower of the St. Louis Cardinals, and he cherished watching his grandsons play little league baseball.

Keith was a drywall finisher by trade and worked for the Painters Union Local #1156 for 30 years.  He was also a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1121 and was a member of the Friends of the VFW Auxiliary organization. He also coached little league baseball for many years, and he was a Cub Scout leader for his son.

Keith was a heart transplant recipient in 2009. Because of this amazing gift, Keith was given an additional 14 years to spend with his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Derek Ballmann, father and mother-in-law, Robert and Shirley Frankenberg, and nephew, Benjamin Julius.

Among his survivors are his wife Brenda Ballmann of Union; daughter, Monica Artinger and husband Jacob, two grandchildren, Zachary and Caleb Artinger of Washington; siblings, Joyce Sanchez and husband Steve of St. Louis, Neil Ballmann and wife Chris of New Haven, Janice Mantle and husband Charlie of Union, Lori Vollmer and husband Vaughn of Washington, Lisa Buddemeyer and husband Tim of Washington, and Kay Julius and husband Paul of Union; in-laws, Gary Frankenberg and wife Tisha of Gerald; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
