Joyce Kelly Obituary

Joyce C. Kelly, 82, of Washington, MO, passed away on October 24, 2024. Mrs. Kelly, daughter of the late Fred Kampschroeder and Ida Mae Warden, was born on July 10, 1942, in Washington. She received her education from St. Francis Borgia High School and graduated from DePaul School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. On August 19, 1967, she was united in marriage to James Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Kelly; son, Johnny Kelly; sister, Fran Kampschroeder and sisters-in-law, Betty Kampschroeder and Mary “Turk” Kampschroeder.

Joyce was a pillar of humility and strength. She served as a role model for her children Tricia Brinker of Washington, Laura Tobben and husband Matt of Metamora, IL, and Maggie Aholt and husband Doug of Farmington, MO, and her seven grandchildren Marcus Brinker and wife Sam, Samantha Brinker, Joel Tobben, Leah Tobben, Josh Tobben, Lucas Tobben, and Jimmy Aholt.  Joyce loved her family; siblings, Ed Kampschroeder of Wilmington, NC, Bob Kampschroeder of Washington, Dee Shirley of Washington, and Mike Kampschroeder of St. Louis, along with many nieces/nephews and supported them in anyway she could.

Joyce always showed kindness and compassion for all those she cared for in her 40+ years of nursing and through service to her community.  After retirement she focused her time on serving her Church, God, and the community through various ministries including St. Francis Borgia Church Choir, Civic Chorus, St. Francis Borgia Food Pantry, Ladies Sodality, and being a voter registrar.

She spent her last days surrounded by family, exemplifying grace and strength as she waited for ultimate peace.
