Joy F.E. Gerstein

Joy F. E. Gerstein, 77, of Washington, passed away on August 31, 2023. Joy was born on May 11, 1946, in California. She received her education from the University of Georgia.  On September 27, 1975, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Gerstein.

Joy was the first organizer and coach of the Washington Swim Team. She was a dedicated Republican Party Member, working with the State Fair for the Republican Party. Joy served on the Central Committee for Ward 2, State Committee, and Delegate to the National Republican Conventions.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Houk Smith.

Among her survivors are her husband, Dr. Lawrence Gerstein of Washington; two sisters, Jill Houk of Sandy Springs, Ga and Jan Baril of Leesburg, FL; sister-in-law, Arlene Diel of Orlando, FL; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 4 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Legion Post 218.
