Joseph M. Vollmer, 53, of Washington, passed away on Saturday November 19, 2022. Joe, son of the late Victor Vollmer and Catherine nee Rolf, was born on May 6, 1969, in Washington, MO. He received his education from Washington School and East Central College. On September 20, 1997, he was united in marriage to Michel “Shelley” Dobsch at St. Gertrude Church in Krakow. Joe was employed with Cheltenham Construction Services for 20 years. He was also a Co-Owner of Wimpy’s Sandwich Shop. He was the Commander of the Son’s of American Legion Post 218 in Washington and a member of the Carpenters Local 1839. Joe was an avid outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt and rabbit hunt. Joe loved spending time with his family and liked to read in his spare time. Joe was known for his love of dogs, especially his beloved dog “Brutus” who he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Cotton Vollmer, Victor Vollmer Jr. and Viola Rose Kassebaum and best friend Joe Busch.
Joe is survived by his wife, Michel “Shelley” Vollmer; two sons, Colton Vollmer and significant other Hannah Krajcir of Washington, and Connor Vollmer and significant other Abigail Baldwin of Washington; Siblings; Marilyn Kluesner and husband John of Marthasville, Marlene Ley and husband Lenny of Villa Ridge, Margie Green and husband Johnny of Auxvasse , Mel Vollmer and wife Phyllis of Union, Merl Vollmer of Washington, Valerie Marquart and husband Terry of New Haven, Vaughn Vollmer and wife Lori of Washington, Vicky Grant and husband Kevin of New Haven, Verna Sullentrup and husband Kevin of Washington, Cheryl Vondera and husband George of Union, Linda Vollmer of New Haven, and Rodney Vollmer and wife Cherie of Washington, In-Laws: Janet Vollmer, Lowell and Sue Kassebaum, Duane and Vanessa Benne, Phil and Felicia Lehr, Nate Skaggs, and mother in law Pat Skaggs and significant other Rob Narup; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday November 25, 2022, from 3-8 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A Memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at St Gertrude’s Church in Krakow.
