John L. Gadcke Sr.

John Gadcke Sr., 94 , of Washington, passed away on August 23, 2021. Mr. Gadcke, son of the late Louis Gadcke, and his wife Elsie nee Tyree, was born on May 5, 1927 in El Paso, TX. He received his education at the Washington High School. On December 28, 1945, he was united in marriage to Mary Schroepfer in St. Louis.  John proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in WW II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Gadcke; daughter-in-law, Eva Gadcke, and two sisters, Dortha Niewald and Tootie Kleinheider.

Among his survivors are his son, John Gadcke Jr. of Union; siblings, Anne Findlay of Jefferson City, MO, Allen Klingsick of Jefferson City, MO, Charles Klingsick of Warsaw, MO, Eugene Klingsick of Hermann, MO, and Donald Klingsick of Denver, CO; grandson, Daniel Gadcke of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Gadcke of Nashville, TN and Lindze Gratza and husband Luke of Marthasville; other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5-8 P.M. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10 A.M. at St. Ann’s Church in Clover Bottom. Interment, with full military honors will be held at the Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Franklin County Honor Flight.
