John Brinker Obituary

John G. Brinker, 81 , of Washington, passed away on December 17, 2022. John, son of the late William Brinker and Frances nee Tobben, was born on October 6, 1941 in Washington. He received his education from St. Francis Borgia High School. On October 10, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carlene Bader at Assumption Church in New Haven.

Mr. Brinker served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 218-where he was a past Commander, VFW Auxiliary, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, and the Washington Boat Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Matthew Hoffmeister; granddaughter, Amy Hoffmeister; brother, Donald Brinker; sister, Marilyn Remillard and husband Don; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brinker; brothers-in-law, Herbert Heggemann, Don Holtmeyer, Earl Logan, and sister-in-law, Teresa Beste and husband Harold.

Among his survivors are his wife, Carlene Brinker of Washington; two children, Sharon Hoffmeister Sharpe and husband Ronald of Fenton and Douglas Brinker and wife Aracely of Brackettville, TX; brother, William Brinker of Florissant; sister-in-law, Patricia Brinker of Springfield, MO; eleven grandchildren, Eric Hoffmeister of St. Peters, Emily Hoffmeister of Fenton, Julie Hoffmeister of Oxford, MS, Steven Brinker of Iowa, Daniel Brinker and wife Emily of Jarrell, TX, Benjamin Brinker and wife Brittany of Fort Riley, KS, Nathaniel Brinker of Oklahoma, Layla Brinker of Brackettville, TX, Douglas Brinker of Brackettville, TX, Marco De Luna of South Korea, and Maryfer Allelo and husband Francisco of Belton, TX; great-grandchildren, Alayna Brinker, Kaylee Brinker, Aubrey Brinker, Jaylee Brinker, and Francisco Allelo; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at St. Gertrude’s Church in Krakow. Interment with full military honors will be at the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the St. Gertrude’s Church or the Franklin County Honor Flight.
