Jeffrey Dietrich Obituary

Jeffrey M. Dietrich, 63 , of Washington, passed away on March 3, 2023. Mr. Dietrich, son of the late Vernon "Ed" Dietrich and Patricia nee Hughes, was born on August 23, 1959 in East St. Louis, IL. He received his education from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. On July 19, 1986, he was united in marriage to Shelly Triplett at St. Peter’s U.C.C. in Washington.

Jeff loved spending time with family and friends. He loved taking vacations and road trips.  He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed discussing cars with his brother-in-law Dave.  Jeff was an avid sports fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, and the Kansas City Chiefs.  He grew up playing the drums and listening to jazz music.  In his later years he spent quality time with loved ones camping and fishing. Jeff loved all animals but favored dogs and hawk watching.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Leroy Triplett, and his grandparents.

Among his survivors are his wife, Shelly Dietrich of Washington; mother-in-law, Carol Triplett of Washington; sister, Lynn Rash and husband Mike of Huntington, WV; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bret Triplett and wife Darlene of Union, Kyle Triplett and wife Toni of Washington, and Tina Meyer and husband David of Washington; nieces and nephews, Jeremy Triplett and wife Amanda, Nicole Brower and husband Curtis, Alaina Cooper and husband Ben, McKaela Alferman and husband Herby, Katelyn Meyer, Joseph Rash and wife Susie, and Rebecca Burns and husband Paul; great nieces and nephews, Hunter, Kyle, Jaxson, Peyton, Lily, and Tyler Barnhart, Jasmine and Ariel Blackwell, Aurora and Bella Brower, Brooks Cooper, Linux Alferman, and Allison and Aaron Rash; special friends, Kristin Croissant-Summers, Daniel Bertelsen, John King, Scott Gildehaus and wife Debbie, and Shaun Halloran and wife Liz; other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 12-3 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, with a memorial service beginning at 3 p.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association.
