Jean Kimme Obituary

Jean Kimme (nee Tyree) passed away in Jefferson City, Missouri, on Sunday, June 4, 2023, surrounded by family. Jean was born May 4, 1934, in Washington, Missouri, and lived in Washington her whole life, attending both St. Francis Borgia Grade School and High School. She earned her nursing degree in St. Louis and was very proud to be a nurse.

Jean was a talented crafter and created beautiful cross-stitch, embroidery, and stained-glass art.  She was an amazing cook (You missed out if you never got to try her world-famous Christmas sugar cookies!), an avid reader, and a lover of old movies, music, and animals, especially dogs and songbirds.  She was a devoted Catholic and lifelong member of St. Francis Borgia Parish and the American Legion Auxiliary, as well as a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority where she made lasting friendships.

While at SFB High School, Jean met her high school sweetheart, and eventual husband, William D. Kimme. Jean and Bill married on August 18, 1956.

Jean was the daughter of Edward “Dick” Tyree and Ruby Ferguson aka Dowil. She was the oldest of five children; her brothers, Robert Tyree and Raymond Tyree, and her sisters, Mary Kampschroeder and Melba Wehmeyer, preceded her in death. Her husband, Bill, passed away in 2002.

Surviving her are her son, William B. Kimme and wife, Patricia (Skoglund) of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter Carol Brunnert and husband John of Jefferson City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Meaghan Gibson (Matt) of Middle River, Maryland, Arden Kimme of Germany, and Cole Brunnert of Jefferson City; two great-grandchildren, Wesley and Elliana Gibson of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members. Jean fiercely loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 24, from 9-11 a.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home, 1206 Jefferson Street, Washington, with a memorial service at 11 a.m.  Interment will be at the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery in Washington.
