James N. Lucas , 87 , of Union, passed away on August 23, 2021, after a long illness. Mr. Lucas, son of the late Walter Lucas and his wife Goldie nee Wright, was born on January 22, 1934 in Des Peres, MO. He received his education from Kirkwood High School. On May 11, 1984, he was united in marriage to Charlotte Mir at the Church of the Master in Florissant, MO.
James was employed by Emerson Electric for over 39 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and loved St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Mr. Lucas was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Elroy and wife Cindy, Donald and wife Dorothy, Naomi and husband Charlie, Mary, David and wife Marie, Joyce and husband Neil, and John. Also by a step son, Charles Mir.
Among his survivors are his wife, Charlotte Lucas of Union; two children, Jim Lucas and wife Faith and JoAnne Steger and husband Tom; grandchildren, Jim, John, and Kelsey Lucas, and Jim and Steven Steger; great-granddaughter, Audrina Steger; sister, Carol Jean Toothman and husband Jim; sister-in-laws, Carolyn Lucas, Patricia Maupin and husband Elvin; brother-in-law, Charles Poppele and wife Norma; step-children, Robert Mir and wife Claire, Debra Randol and husband Don, and their seven children and eleven grandchildren; uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Washington. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Kidney Association.
