Jacob O. Pottebaum, 79 , of Washington, passed away on April 14, 2022. Jake, son of the late Benjamin Pottebaum and Lorene nee Kiderlen, was born on December 8, 1942 in McKittrick, MO. He received his education from St. George High School in Hermann. On August 17, 1963, he was united in marriage to Wanda Branson at the Assumption Church in New Haven.
Jake was employed by McBride & Sons Construction for over 45 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing and deer hunting with his family and friends. Spending time with his family was the most important thing to him. Jake was a kind and loving husband to his wife Wanda for 58 1/2 years. He raised two daughters and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Joe Pottebaum, George Pottebaum, and Leo Pottebaum and wife Audrey; In-laws, Fern Juedemann and husband Red, Walter “Sonny” Branson Jr., Jane Theissen, Rosie Dunakey and husband Dan, Linda Luecke and husband Charlie, Betty Branson, and great-grandson, Nolan Allender.
Among his survivors are his wife, Wanda Pottebaum of Washington; two daughters, Connie Holdmeier and husband Mike of Washington and Nancy Holdmeyer and husband Lester of Washington; granddaughter, Rachel Allender and husband Jacob of Washington; two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Ethan Allender; In-laws, Virginia Pottebaum of Mexico, MO, Madge Pottebaum of Higbee, Rita Borcherding of New Haven, Bob Theissen of Washington, Gerald “Fuzzy” Branson and wife Kathryn of Marthasville, Donna Thompson and husband Rholand of New Haven, Dennis Branson and wife Virginia of Washington, Faye Thomure and husband Roger of Rosebud, Ronnie Branson and wife Karen of New Haven, Donnie Branson and wife Rosie of Berger; other relatives and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at Nieburg-Vitt, Miller Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Heartland Hospice Care or Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
